Workshop description
Nicholas Tan is an experienced trader and trainer. He has been in the financial markets for 27 years, and is the author of two popular books which are still available in the local bookstores: “Handbook for Forex Trading” and “Handbook for CFD Trading”. He has also been invited to speak on TV programs like MoneyMind and at various societies and organisations. You can read more able his background in his profile below.
In this first OTCS workshop of 2016, Nicholas will be sharing with us on two important topics:
Part 1: Market Outlook for 2016
Using inter markets and assets class analysis, with reference to currency, bond, equity and commodity, Nicholas will arrive at an outlook for the year 2016.
Part 2: Fibonacci Trading Application in Time and Price
Using Elliott Wave concept, Nicholas have developed it into a simple Fibonacci retracement and expansion technique. If retracement represents the corrective mode, then expansion will be the impulse mode. Using the same Fibonacci ratio as in Elliott Wave application, you will learn how to forecast price targets as well as time target. Knowing the time it would take to reach the price target would help to plan your exit. When both are applied together, you will immensely increase the accuracy of your forecast.

Speaker profile
Nicholas Tan is currently working as a Trading Representative with UOB Kay Hian which he joined in 2002. Prior to UOBKH, he had worked for 13 years as a Forex trader with banks in Singapore, gathering much invaluable experience in the process. Starting in 1989, he rose through the ranks to become vice president and has been honing his technical analysis skills in the fast paced FX marketplace till 2002.
From 2005 to 2008, Nicholas Tan was involved in the Diploma in Wealth Management Course at a private institute where he taught as a free lance lecturer, a module on Forex and CFD Trading (stock market). Since starting his teaching in 2005, he has taught FX, CFD, stocks as well as technical analysis courses till today. His style of teaching in small groups and in practical real time environment, the closest to reality trading, has exposed hundreds of participants to his simple and yet highly effective trading techniques in the forex as well as the equity market.
He is the author of 2 popular books, “Handbook for Forex Trading” and “Handbook for CFD Trading” which are still available in local bookstores. “Handbook for Forex Trading” was among the top ten non-fiction bestsellers in 2007. He had made guest appearance on TV program like Money Mind and given numerous talks and seminars for various societies and organisations since 2007. He has also taught 2 continuing education programs for UOB Kay Hian’s trading representatives.
Armed with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore, Nicholas Tan also holds a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation from the US Market Technicians Association. He is a Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) with the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) and has an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment.
